What it is
Controlled exfoliation, depth chosen on purpose.
A chemical peel applies a solution to the skin to remove the outermost layers in a controlled way. As those layers shed, smoother, more even skin replaces them — and the process also signals your skin to make new collagen.
Depths range from light (work-day-friendly, mild flaking) to medium (a week or two of visible peeling, deeper results). The right depth depends on your skin type, your goals, and how much downtime you can plan around.
We don't recommend the deepest peel by default. Most patients do better with a light-to-medium peel in a short series than one aggressive session.

Time
30–45 min
Cleanse, prep, application, and neutralize. Most of the appointment is preparation, not active peel time.
Downtime
None–2 weeks
Ranges from no visible downtime (light peel) to 1–2 weeks of redness and flaking (medium peel), depending on depth.
Results
1–2 weeks
Visible 1–2 weeks post-peel. Best results come from a planned series — usually three to six sessions, spaced.

Credentialed providers, under FACOG direction.
Chemical peels at The Body Lab are performed by Natalie Catalano, NP-C (20+ years clinical experience) or Carmen Orrico, RN, Master Aesthetician (advanced training in skin treatments). Depth and product are chosen at consultation based on your skin type and goals.
Under the medical direction of Rod Hojat, MD, FACOG — board-certified OB/GYN and Medical Director for the practice.
